City Vs Atletico Madrid

Man City edge closer to UCL semifinals with narrow win over Atletico Madrid

Kevin De Bruyne's second-half goal proves decisive

Manchester City took a slender lead in their Champions League quarterfinal tie against Atletico Madrid on Tuesday, edging out the Spanish champions 1-0 at the Etihad Stadium.

The match was a tense and cagey affair, with both teams struggling to create clear-cut chances. However, City's quality eventually shone through as Kevin De Bruyne fired home a superb goal in the 70th minute.

The Belgian playmaker collected the ball on the left-hand side of the box and drove infield before unleashing a curling shot into the bottom corner. It was a moment of brilliance from De Bruyne, who has been in excellent form for City this season.

Atletico Madrid pushed hard for an equalizer but were unable to find a way through City's defense. The Premier League leaders held on for a valuable victory, giving them the advantage ahead of the second leg at the Wanda Metropolitano next week.

City will be confident of finishing the job in Madrid and booking their place in the semifinals. However, Atletico Madrid have a good record at home in Europe, so the tie is far from over.
